Download the ZIP, unzip it, and move Daypetal into Applications. This public preview is locally signed and has not been notarized by Apple; macOS may require you to allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security on first launch.
On your Mac, in Daypetal’s Application Support folder. Nothing from your diary is sent to this website. You can open your data folder from the app’s settings. Your working diary is not encrypted by Daypetal; encryption protects the exported backups.
Choose a folder synced by iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. In the app’s settings, enter a long, unique passphrase and save an encrypted backup. Your cloud app syncs that encrypted file. Keep your passphrase safe: Daypetal doesn’t store it and can’t recover it.
Yes. Daypetal can check this website when it opens, or whenever you choose Check for updates in settings. Release information is signed, and downloaded updates are verified before you install them. Your local diary stays in place when you replace the app.
